MESSI ON RECOVERY TRAIL

Star of Barcelona Lionel Messi is undergoing the final stages of his recovery. The Argentenean picked up the injury during Barcelona’s La Liga encounter against Real Betis which was played back in November 10.

The injury forced Messi to be out of the playing ground of Barcelona for 7 weeks but he is expected to play for Barcelona’s match against Elche, whether Messi plays for the entire match or just makes a minor substitute appearance depends entirely on the decision of the coach Tata Martino.

“He definitely needed to rest physically because he had already suffered this [injury] and there was no other option than to stop playing. He had four or five injuries in a row in a muscle that he uses a lot in accelerating from a standstill, which is what sets him apart. He had to stop no matter what and he’ll be like a bull when he is back’’ Fabregas said.

Barcelona managed to deal fairly well with the absence of their star player as they only managed to lose 1 encounter but the remaining players of the team stepped it up and filled in during the matches that Messi was out injured.

Tata Martino’s team has shown interest in signing the 26 years defender of Chelsea David Luiz. The Brazilian defender has already admitted that he received offers from the Catalan last year but he decided on staying in Chelsea but now it is believed that even though Jose Mourinho considers Luiz to be a vital player for him and the team, if a significant offer for the player is made then he will be offloaded.

The defensive area of Barcelona has always been one of the zones that they have struggled and the addition of David Luiz is expected to fulfill those gaps and weaknesses shown by the club in this season and in the past few years as well.
