MADRID CLIMB

Barcelona’s 1-0 loss against Granada has allowed Real Madrid and Athletic Madrid on climbing a few spots higher in the Spanish League as they are at the top of the league but it has also affected the morale of the players as the coach and some players revealed as they talked after the match concluded.

Gerardo Martino’s squad enjoyed having more than 80% of possession throughout the entire match and launched over 20 shots inside the own half of Granada but it wasn’t enough for them to secure a single point.

“The ball didn’t want to go in, but we can’t make excuses. I think we created chances to score, but football can be like this. The league is no longer in our hands. I don’t think the defeat in the Champions League affected us, we created a lot of chances.”  Mascherano told the england italy odds website.

“It’s a step backward. We made a mistake in the play that led to their goal and that really hurt us. Sometimes it’s hard to find an explanation; we did everything we could to score. It hurts to take this backward step at this point in the league, when there’s so little left for the year to be over.” Iniesta said as he also voiced his opinion about their defeat against Granada.

This is something that has been affecting Barcelona for the past few seasons but this negative result comes at a crucially important time for the team of Martino as the Spanish league is nearing its last few matches and this gives all of their rivals a huge advantage.

The season is still not yet over and Barcelona is hoping they can get back at the top of the Spanish league as Martino and his players want to once more lift the league title.
