Barcelona’s poor form continued after the team were involved in a 0-0 draw with Malaga at home.

This result means that the club has now only managed two wins in the last five games. Coupled with the brilliant form shown by Real Madrid in the last few weeks, Barcelona have fallen four points behind the table leaders. Manager Luis Enrique was extremely disappointed with Malaga’s tactics in this La Liga match. He pointed out to the fact that Malaga had 10 men in the box so as to prevent any clear-cut opportunities for the home team.

It was also interesting that Barcelona were without two of their main superstars – Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. In the absence of these two players, Neymar was seen as the key player who could get the goals for the team. Despite enjoying a whopping 82% possession, the team were unable to find a way past the stubborn defence.

Prosecutors demanded for charges of fraud and corruption to be filed against Neymar, Barcelona and Santos in relation to the Brazil international’s move to Barcelona.

The club’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu and predecessor Sandro Rosell have also been included in the case which was brought up by Brazilian investment company, DIS.

National Court judge, Jose de la Mata previously thrashed the case out of the court in July over a lack of evidence that’s more than reasonable doubt, but that decision was overturned last month. At the moment, the prosecution has now called for the charges to be processed again.

The Brazilian Investment Company claim they are due a 40% share of the transfer fee that Barcelona paid to sign Neymar from Santos in 2013, which is claimed to have not been received in full, given the secrecy over the full cost of the transfer.

Barca initially claimed that Neymar cost a total of €57m, as time passed on, another price was later disclosed to be a lot greater, and with Bartomeu claiming over €100m was ultimately spent on the transfer of the Brazilian international to Camp Nou.

There are media reports that Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo may leave for Manchester City in the days to come.

Pep Guardiola has already informed Joe Hart that he no longer forms part of his plan and that he is looking for another goalkeeper to replace him. Indeed Guardiola has not selected Hart for the first two games of the season, and the player is thought to be looking for another club.

In the meantime, Barcelona has admitted that Manchester City is interested in their goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and that it is highly possible that the player makes the switch before the end of the transfer window. Bravo played in the match against Sevilla which Barcelona won 3-0 and left the pitch in tears. He made a great display in the game where he saved a penalty.

Claudio Bravo will be reconnecting with his former coach Pep Guardiola who managed Barcelona before moving to Bayern Munich. Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has admitted that Manchester City is interested in the player and that it is highly possible that the player makes the move by the end of the week. It is reported that Barcelona are looking to sign Diego Alves from Valencia as a replacement for Claudio Bravo.

Vives, who acts as Barcelona’s spokesman, said that Lionel Messi has not given any sign that he intends to leave the club.

Indeed, there have been reports that Lionel Messi might want to leave the Spanish club after the sentence for tax fraud by the Catalan court.

Lionel Messi has been convicted to a 21-month prison sentence after having found guilty of tax fraud. There are reports that the Argentina forward has been shattered by the penalty and might consider leaving Barcelona.

Messi is already in a bad period after having announced his retirement with the Argentina national team. Indeed the Argentina international has stated that he will not be playing again for his national team after having lost the Copa America final. Many people have tried to convince the player to change his decision, but so far he has not made any declaration. Some pundits believe that the court sentence might be too much to bear for the player, and he might be leaving Spain in the summer.

With no apparent bust-ups at the Nou Camp between Neymar, the manager and the other two thirds of ‘MSN’ there seems to be no compelling reason as to why Neymar would leave The Catalans.

However, each season there is a number of confident rumours suggesting he will leave for new ventures – possibly because he wants to be the key man at a giant club, rather than living in Messi’s shadow? If Barcelona miss out on the league this season, and with them already out of Europe’s finest competition, could we see him leave this summer? Only a number of clubs could attract him, so, let’s look at his options.

Chelsea

Under new boss Antonio Conte there is bound to be some heavy spending this summer at Stamford Bridge with the unexpected poor season behind them. There is delusion amongst fans and staff about the state of their attack – Hazard hasn’t been fulfilling his potential and Costa is rumoured to be let go after too many backroom bust-ups. Chelsea certainly have the money to purchase Neymar but would he suit the club? Chelsea are no stranger to controversial characters which Neymar can be at times with his fiery temper, however the style of play isn’t exactly as exciting as Barcelona over thre.

 PSG

PSG have not been afraid to splash the cash recently and are in a similar predicament to Chelsea this summer. Ibrahimović is set to leave, possibly with a move to his long awaited destination – the Premier League. They won Ligue 1 comfortably this year however they’re still waiting to finally conquer the coveted Champions League and Neymar could be the key to give them that extra edge needed to do it. Neymar would certainly be paid well enough at PSG however the prospect of low quality weekly domestic football may not be enough of a draw.
